šŸŽ‰ TGIF: Here are some fun events to try this weekend!

Happy TGIF! No weekend plans? Read on to discover what's new in Singapore this weekend!


1. Singapore Garden Festival

The Singapore Garden Festival is finally back this year! Taking place from 30 July - 9 August 2022, this event is a flower and garden showcase featuring various local gardeners and their exhibits. Take this chance to visit each booth and snap instagrammable photos with the various aesthetic backdrops!

Some exhibits include the Secret Life of Gnomes, a showcase featuring adorable gnomes dwelling among the figs, ā€œstrings of nickelsā€ and lipstick plants that they call home. Try your luck with spotting the miniature gnomes on tree trunks!

Be sure to check out Flower Fields as well, a lovely exhibit of sunflowers, periwinkles and snapdragons. Photos taken here would definitely look gorgeous!

2. National Day Light Up 2022

Spend a night watching a dazzling display of lights in view of the upcoming National Day! Being held at 6 historical landmarks, you can admire the light show at any one of these locations - the National Museum of Singapore, Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, Central Fire Station, The Cathay, National Design Centre, and Stamford Arts Centre.

Do bring along your families and friends for a night out at these places and join the festivities and celebrations for National Day! The light show will be happening daily from 1-27 August so be sure to catch it before its too late!

3. National Day Concert held by Gardens by the Bay & Media Corp

Happening on the 6th of August, Gardens by the Bay and Mediacorp has collaborated to hold a National Day Concert to celebrate Singapore's 57th birthday! Be prepared to be entertained by an array of stand-up comedy acts and musical performances presented by a star-studded assembly of local talents!


You can look forward to ending the night with a bang, with the final performance showcasing 500 drones lighting up the night sky in the formation of our Singapore flag. Be sure to catch this spectacular finale at Gardens by the Bay! Although tickets are required for admission into the venue, visitors without tickets will still be able to watch the live-streaming of the concert on giant LED screens at the Supertree Grove. So mark this out in your calendars for a fun-filled night!

4. Playdate's Thrift Market

If you love thrifting, this is the perfect event for you! Playdate, a digital thrift store, will be holding a massive thrift market from 6-7 August at OUE Downtown Gallery.

Get ready to sift through 5,000 articles of clothing at highly discounted prices! Tickets are required for entry, starting from $18 for Set A which entitles you to five pieces of clothing. If you're looking to purchase more items, you may opt for the higher priced tickets, whereby Set B costs $28 for 10 pieces, and Set C costs $48 for 20 pieces.

Tickets are shareable so bring your friend along on a shopping date and refresh your wardrobes together!
