šŸŽƒšŸ–¤ 3 Easy Halloween Costumes To Prepare Last Minute

Time got a bit away from you and now you don't have a Halloween costume ready for Monday? Here are 3 costumes that are fairly easy to prepare!

1. Clown

We all know someone afraid of clowns (perhaps you are!) but when else to bring out the innately creepy, ever smiling creature than during Halloween! Round out October with this easy to replicate makeup look.

What you need:

  • Eyeliner

  • Red lipstick

  • Makeup remover

  • Cotton bud

  • Highlight or white eyeshadow (optional)

What to do:

  1. Using the eyeliner, draw triangles on the top and bottom of your eyes to make a diamond shape

  2. Using the lipstick, stretch the line of your lips out to make an elongated smile

  3. Using the same lipstick, fill in the lips

  4. Using the cotton bud, dipped in makeup remover, sharpen the elongated line

  5. Dab some lipstick onto your fingers and use it to make pronounced circles on the apples of your cheeks to stimulate blush (tip: it doesn't need to be super bright, but enough to be noticeable)

  6. Using the leftover lipstick on your finger, dab it on the tip of your nose in a circular shape

  7. Use the highlight of white eyeshadow and draw out where the light would hit the sphere should it be a circle.

As a costume, you can use a striped shirt under a set of overalls, but generally the more colourful you are the more clownish you can come across. To become something a little creepier and sinister, dress in black and white so that the red of your lips and cheeks become a bit more of a pop-of-colour.

2. Singaporean Guy

Uniqlo has taken Singaporean fashion by a storm, with even the brand themselves acknowledging the popular Airism T-Shirt as the "SG Uniform" in their campaigns. For those that want to make a funnier outfit, you can replicate the classic "Singaporean Guy" outfit with just these few items.

What you need:

  • Uniqlo U AIRism Cotton Crew Neck Oversized T-Shirt (tucked in)

  • Bermudas or long pants

  • Tote bag (for extra points, go for the off white ones)

  • Glasses (optional)

  • Cap (optional)

Feel free to make your own spin, such as heavy eyebags using eyeshadow to simulate a sleep-deprived student, or some blood splatters for something more thriller-appropriate.

3. Ghost

We've all seen the costumes inspired by our ever terrifying local hantus and pontianaks, so here is a way to replicate those looks.

What you need:

  • Dark brown or black eyeshadow

  • White face powder, or a foundation that is a few shades lighter

  • White clothes, as long and flowy as possible

  • Long black wig (optional)

  • Dark red liquid lipstick/lip tint (optional)

Steps:

  1. Cover your face in the powder or the foundation. The goal is to make you look pale and sickly. Make sure to dab some on your lips as well

  2. Pack on the black eyeshadow around your eyes and tap outwards so that the skin surrounding the eyelids would be the darkest.

  3. Under bonier structures on your face, such as the nose, jawline and cheekbones, swipe a little bit of the eyeshadow to make yourself look more gaunt and skeletal.

  4. For those that want something bloodier, you can use a dark red lipstick and draw a shaky line down from a corner of your lips. It would look like you just drank blood.

Just a little warning to be respectful when you head out. You won't want to come back to your house with an uninvited plus one.

The end of October marks the peak of spooky season, so why not heal your inner child and participate in a little dress-up for the fun of it!
